Vietnamese female weightlifter Le Thi Tham won a gold medal at the Southeast Asian Weightlifting Championships which closed in Thailand on June 28.
She defeated strong rivals from Indonesia, Malaysia and Myanmar to triumph in women’s 69kg, with a total lift of 215kg.
In women’s over-69kg category, Pham Hong Thuy bagged a bronze, with a total lift of 205kg.
Nguyen Minh Quang bagged a silver in the men’s over-94kg event. His lift of 344kg (156kg snatch and 188kg jerk and clean) was 1kg less than gold medallist Tinnaphop Kanrawangchai of Thailand.
However, he established a national record.
His teammate Tran Van Hoa came third, with a 370kg lift.-VNA
