Hanoi (VNA) – Diverse activities will be organised to mark Vietnam Family Day 2016 (June 28) and praise the strong bond that exists in families.

The celebration started with “love connection” stations at Noi Bai International Airport, Hoan Kiem Lake and Van Ho Exhibition Centre in Hanoi from June 14.

The activities are geared towards those who are busy with work and earning a living, who have less time for their families. They expressed their emotions by phone to their relatives. It’s an opportunity for participants to write their hopes for their family, and take photos.

Their moving stories were recorded for a screening at the Vietnam Family Day celebration which will be held at Van Ho Exhibition Centre, 2 Hoa Lu Street, Hanoi, on June 25-28.

There will also be an exhibition of photos and documents about family affairs and sweet memories, a cooking contest, a stand on books and publications in the field of family, and an exhibition of handicrafts.

During the four-day event, visitors will have a chance to meet health consultants and join workshops on health care, life skills for young people and family issues in the modern era.

A special art performance will be held at the main stage of the centre with participation from singer Kyo York and Nhat Minh, winner of the Do Re Mi Children’s Singing Contest 2013.

A highlight of Vietnam Family Day will take place on June 26 at the Hanoi Opera House, hosted by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The ceremony will include music performances and talks from activists in domestic violence campaigns.

“Families help preserve national cultural identity and tradition, that’s the reason why we have to build up a cultured and civilised foundation for each family,” said Vice Minister of Culture Dang Thi Bich Lien.

“This year marks 15 years of celebrating Family Day. The celebration is organised nationwide and gets many people involved, that’s the difference between previous years, we used to just hold a ceremony on big stages.-VNA
