Hanoi (VNA) – Food lovers are offered an opportunity to taste different dishes from Vietnam and dozens of other countries at a cuisine festival which opened at the Octagon House near Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem Lake on June 16.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Ngo Van Quy said that the event aims at introducing and promoting the culinary art of Hanoi and of other nations.
Hanoi’s traditional dishes like com Me Tri (Me Tri young rice), tra sen Ho Tay (Ho Tay lotus tea), banh cuon Ba Hoanh (Ba Hoanh steamed rolled pancake) and bun oc Phu Dong (Phu Dong rice noodle soup with fresh water snails) are being introduced at 25 booths.
Another 25 booths are providing dishes from Argentina, Australia, China, France, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Laos and Peru, including empanada of Argentina, Columbian salad, Indonesian satay and Peru’s quinoa salad.
Along with enjoying quintessential food, visitors also have a chance to watch art performances by both local and foreign artists and take part in folk games.
The event remains open to visitors until the night of June 17.-VNA
