Hanoi (VNA) – National Assembly (NA)Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue has called on all sectors, agencies and people to raisetheir awareness of and responsibility for fire prevention and fighting and rescue work,considering this an important, regular task.

The top legislator made the appeal while addressinga programme in Hanoi on September 28 to launch a nationwide campaign for fireprevention and control, and rescue operations.

The event marked the 62nd traditional dayof the firefighting and rescue police force (October 4, 1961-2023) and 22years of the movement of all people participating in fire prevention andcontrol (October 4, 2001-2023).

On this occasion, the NA Chairman presented the title of “Heroof People’s Armed Forces” to some firefighting and rescue police unitsin Hanoi, the northern port city of Hai Phong, and Ho Chi Minh City.

Other collectives and individuals that have significantlycontributed to firefighting and rescue operations were also honoured at theprogramme.

Hue stressed that fire prevention and control issignificant to ensuring national security, as well as social order and safety,and promoting socio-economic development.

The NA leader praised devotions, contributions andsacrifice of residents, officers and soldiers in the fight, and role models inthe fire prevention and control and rescue movement.

Notably, Vietnamese rescue force well performedtheir international missions in the settlement of earthquake aftermath inTurkey, which was highly valued by the country and the international community,Hue said.

Pointing to the complex, unpredictable situation offires and explosions, especially at mini apartment buildings and productionfacilities, the Chairman emphasised the importance of preparedness for fires, and theneed to seriously follow guidelines of the Party, and laws and policies of theState in this field.

He also suggested reviewing relevant policies andlaws, step up the communications work, promote fire prevention and controlmodels and movements, strengthen the firefighting and rescue force, maximiseresources from the State and different economic sectors to upgradeinfrastructure and equipment in service of the work, and expand internationalcooperation in this sphere.

The leader suggested a nationwide fire safety reviewand stepping up inspections and supervisions, saying violations of fire safetyregulations must be handled strictly. /.
