First liver transplant successfully performed in central region

Doctors of Hue Central Hospital in Thua Thien-Hue province have successfully performed a liver transplant on a patient with a tumour and hepatitis B.

- Doctors of Hue Central Hospital in Thua Thien-Hue province havesuccessfully performed a liver transplant on a patient with a tumour andhepatitis B.

The 52-year-old patient,Le Khac Ty, had been treated in intensive care at the hospital since 2014 for atumour, as well as hepatitis B and cirrhosis.

He was advised to have aliver transplant and was put on the waiting list.

The patient received thenew liver, which was donated by a brain dead patient in Hanoi, on August 31.

After 45 days oftransplantation, the patient well recovered and came his normal life. 

This was the firstpatient in the central and Central Highlands regions who was successfullytransplanted liver by doctors of the Hue Central Hospital./.
