Hanoi (VNA) – The 14th National Assembly (NA)’s first session convened a plenary sitting in Hanoi on July 26 under the chair of NA Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan.

In the morning, deputies discussed and voted to pass a resolution on the organisational structure of the government, as well as talked about a programme on building laws and ordinances in 2016 and another for 2017.

In the afternoon, lawmakers discussed and voted to adopt a resolution on the election of the new Prime Minister.

Nguyen Xuan Phuc was re-elected as Prime Minister. His swearing-in ceremony was broadcast live.

Deputies later discussed in groups, the election of the Vice President, the Chief Justice of the Supreme People’s Court and the Procurator General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy.

On July 27, the NA will elect the aforesaid positions and discuss in groups the number of cabinet members.

The NA is due to adopt a resolution on the legislature’s inspection activities in 2017, and a resolution on the number of cabinet members.

Deputies will talk about the ratification of proposals to appoint Deputy Prime Ministers, Ministers and other Government members.-VNA
