First Vietnamese bank opens branch in Europe

The Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank) inaugurated its branch in the German city of Frankfurt on September 6, becoming the first Vietnamese bank to open a branch in Europe.

The event was attended by Vietnamese DeputyPrime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, representative from the Hessen Stategovernment’s Prof. Dr. Luise Hoelscher, President of the Bundesbank’sFrankfurt Regional Office Hans – Joachim Kohse, and Vice Governor of theCentral Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Dong Tien.

At theevent, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai said that this activity is avivid manifestation of the increasingly wide and effective cooperationbetween Vietnam and Germany in general, and between Vietnam and Hessenstate in particular, marking VietinBank’s strategic move at the leadingfinancial centre of Europe and the world.

VietinBankchairman, Pham Huy Hung said that the new branch is now ready to providebanking services to Vietnamese community, and individuals andbusinesses in Germany, as well as information on business opportunitiesin Vietnam, helping link international and trade activities betweenVietnam and Germany effectively.

On the occasion, Deputy PM Hai also received representatives of Vietnamese businesses in Germany, Czech and Poland./.

Vietnamese businesses seek to expand investment in Cambodia

Vietnam's tourism sector faces labour shortage

A 2026 survey by Hoteljob.vn found that nearly 90% of tourism businesses planned to recruit. In Ho Chi Minh City alone, 89.7% of businesses were hiring, while 71.8% said recruitment was difficult or very difficult. The biggest shortages were among frontline workers, particularly in housekeeping, engineering, food service, front-office operations, and kitchens.
