Hanoi (VNA) - TheHealth Ministry announced the detection of five new cases of COVID-19 as of18:00 on April 2, bringing the total number of cases in the country to 227.

Patient numbered223 was related to the cluster at Hanoi-based Bach Mai hospital, as she caredfor a family member at the hospital since March 11.

Patient 224 was aBrazilian citizen who once lived together with patient 158.

Patients 225 and 226 returnedfrom abroad.

Patient 227 was the sonof patient 209.

Also on April 2, 12COVID-19 patients were declared to have recovered, bringing the number of curedcases to 75./.

Malaria cases in Vietnam down 20% in 2024

According to Dr. Hoang Dinh Canh, Director of the Central Institute of Malaria, Parasitology, and Entomology, from 2014 to 2024, the number of malaria cases and deaths has gradually declined year on year, with a decrease of 97.76% from 15,752 cases to 353 cases per year.
