Hanoi (VNA) – The death toll from ongoing severe flooding in Myanmar has risen to nearly 270, and 88 others are still missing, Myanmar’s authorities have reported.

According to Myanmar's government, nearly 270,000 hectares of rice and other crops were flooded, and over 100,000 livestock were lost. The United Nations has warned that 630,000 people in Myanmar may need assistance following Typhoon Yagi.

In response to this emergency, Myanmar has called for international aid. On September 18, an Indian Navy ship arrived at Yangon port, delivering food, medicine, and essential supplies.

Typhoon Yagi, which swept through Southeast Asia this month, caused severe damage in countries, including Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, and Myanmar. Official figures show nearly 600 deaths across the region due to floods and landslides./.
