Flooding displaces nearly 7,800 people in Malaysia

As many as 7,780 people in several states of Malaysia had been displaced by flooding as of 2pm (local time) on September 20.

Hanoi (VNA) - As many as 7,780 people in several states of Malaysia had been displaced by flooding as of 2pm (local time) on September 20.

Kedah is the state hit hardest, with 6,588 people being housed in 38 flood relief centres, according to the country's Department of Social Welfare.

Other affected states include Penang, Selangor, Perlis and Sabah.

The meteorological department of Malaysia had previously warned of continuous heavy rain as the Southwest monsoon season is underway with bad weather predicted to persist through September./.
