Forest god worship ceremony: Unique cultural tradition of H'mong people

Every year, around the end of the first lunar month, the H’mong ethnic people of Na Hau Commune, Van Yen district, gather to celebrate the Forest God Worship Ceremony.

The festival is a time for prayers that wish for favorable weather, flourishing crops, abundant harvests, and the well-being of their families for the year ahead.

The sacred rituals take place at the forest’s entrance, where towering ancient trees stand guard.

Following the ceremony, the sacred forest is closed for three days as a gesture of gratitude to the Forest God.

The Forest God Worship Ceremony is one of the most significant traditions for the H’mong people, symbolising their prayers for a prosperous and peaceful life. It’s also an opportunity for the community to reinforce their commitment to protecting the forest throughout the year./.
