– Forestry exportsreached 7.08 billion USD in the first eight months of 2019, a year-on-year riseof 18.6 percent.

Wood and timber products grossed 6.66 billionUSD in export turnover, according to the Vietnam Administration of Forestryunder the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Main markets are still the US, Japan, theEuropean Union, China, and the Republic of Korea, making up nearly 80 percentof the total forestry export turnover.

In January-August, Vietnam imported over 1.6billion USD worth of wood and wood products, a yearly rise of 14 percent,mainly from China, the US, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Chile, Germany, Brazil,New Zealand, and France.

Vietnam has so far planted more than 135,800hectares of forest, fulfilling 64 percent of the annual target.-VNA
