Vice State President Nguyen Thi Doan has presented the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces to all the revolutionaries who were held at Hoa Lo prison in Hanoi under the French occupation.
At the presentation ceremony held in Hanoi on April 29, Politburo member and Secretary of the Hanoi Party’s Committee Pham Quang Nghi expressed the deep gratitude of Hanoians and the city Party’s Committee to revolutionary soldiers’ great sacrifice for national freedom and independence.
Revolutionary soldiers’ sacrifice and resilient fighting spirit will be bright examples to beautify the glorious national revolutionary traditions, he said.
Hoa Lo prison was built in Hanoi by the French colonialists in 1896. Over more than half a century, 200 revolutionary soldiers died and the health of many soldiers was affected by cruel torture and long detainment at the prison, which is now a historical site open to visitors./.
