The 19th World Economic Forum (WEF) on East Asia will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on June 6-7, focusing on the rising role of Asia in global development.
Top on the agenda will be the region’s rising role, global risks, green growth programmes and future growth programmes.
The event is expected to map out directions for regional development for the next year and for following year.
The 19 th meeting is attracting government and business leaders across the region, international scholars and the media. High-ranking officials to the meeting include prime ministers of Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, the ASEAN Secretary General, the WTO Director General and the OECD Deputy Secretary General.
Foreign economic ministers, senior officials from regional and international monetary and financial institutions such as ADB and IMF are also expected to joint 20 Vietnamese executives at the event.
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung is scheduled to deliver an opening speech and have bilateral talks with foreign government leaders and some business executives.
On this occasion, Vietnam will hold numerous sideline events to introduce its land and people, the country’s economic development and dynamic business community.
The country now has 12 groups and corporations being WEF members./.
