Fostering Vietnam – India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership
Vietnam and India established their diplomatic relations in 1972 and upgraded the ties to comprehensive strategic partnership in September 2016. They are working to implement an action programme materialising the partnership for 2021-2023. They always support each other and regularly exchange delegation across all levels, particularly high-level ones.
Chairman of the Nation Assembly Vuong Dinh Hue arrived in New Delhi on December 15 for his official visit to India at the invitations of Speaker of the Lok Sabha (House of Representatives) of India Om Birla and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha (Upper House) Venkaiah Naidu.
Two-way trade between Vietnam and India has grown annually by an average of over 20 percent, higher than trade growth between Vietnam and other nations, since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties in 1972, bilateral strategic partnership in 2007 and comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016.
