(Photo courtesy of the exhibition) Hanoi (VNA) - An art exhibition featuring 140 paintings produced byrenowned Vietnamese artist Mai Trung Thu will be held at the Ursulines Museumin Macon, France, from June 16 to October 24, the Voice of Vietnam (VOV)reported.
The event is set to showcase many artworks by Mai Trung Thu for the first timeever, including oil paintings on canvas, paintings on silk, photographs, andlithographs, all of which will be available for the public to view.
Mai Trung Thu, also known as Mai Thu, who lived from 1906 to 1980, is a famouspainter in Vietnamese contemporary art especially during the early 20thcentury.
April this year saw his painting Portrait de Mademoiselle Phuong (Portrait ofMadame Phuong) fetch a record price of 3.1 million USD at Sotheby's Hong KongAuction, thereby representing the highest price ever paid for a piece ofVietnamese artwork.
The exhibition is running with the theme of Écho d’un Vietnam Rêvé (Echo of aDreamed Vietnam), and will open with support from the artist’s daughter Mai LanPhuong in partnership with the Cernuschi Museum./.
