The French Gowind-class offshore patrol vessel, L’Adroit, commanded by naval lieutenant colonel Luc Regnier with a crew of 53, docked at the port of Hai Phong to start a six-day visit to the northern city of Hai Phong and other localities.

During their stay, officers and sailors are scheduled to take part in a wide range of activities, including paying a courtesy visit to Hai Phong authorities, the provincial Navy High Command and Maritime Police Zone 1.

The crewmembers will also participate in sports exchanges with officials and soldiers of the Vietnamese People’s Navy stationed in the province.

On this occasion, delegates from the Ministry of National Defence, Naval Forces and Maritime Police will board the ship.

The vessel’s visit will contribute to strengthening the friendship, cooperation, mutual trust and understanding between the two armies and the two navies in particular.

L’Adroit is designed to conduct maritime security missions such as surveillance and enforcement at sea, communications and broadband security, according to a May 27 report on the website of the French Embassy in Vietnam.

In Southeast Asia, besides the port city of Hai Phong, the ship will stop in Singapore and Jakarta , said the website.-VNA
