Weekly highlights: French, Hungarian Presidents visit Vietnam

French President Emmanuel Macron and his spouse departed Hanoi on May 27 afternoon, concluding their state visit to Vietnam from May 25 to 27, made at the invitation of Vietnamese State President Luong Cuong. This marks the first visit to the Southeast Asian nation by a French President in nearly a decade, and the first high-level exchange between the two countries since the upgrade of bilateral ties to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in October 2024.

Indonesia, France strengthen ties in key sectors

Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said the two sides had agreed to take their partnership further by adopting a shared vision leading up to the 100th anniversary of Indonesia-France relations in 2050.

President Macron highlighted that USTH is now ranked fifth nationwide for research output and has forged strong collaborations in science and technology with top French academic and research institutions. He also noted that France has to date trained over 15,000 Vietnamese engineers, more than 3,000 doctors, and thousands of legal experts.
