Hanoi (VNA) – A high-ranking delegation of the Vietnam-Philippines FriendshipAssociation (VPFA) led by its President Vu Van Tam paid a visit to thePhilippines from June 12 to 17.

Representativesfrom some Vietnamese companies accompanied the delegation in the visit, whichwas made at the invitation of the Philippines-Vietnam Friendship Association(PVFA).

Whilein the Philippines, the VPFA delegation joined talks and inked a memorandumwith the PVFA.

Italso met with Meynardo L.B. Montealegre, Foreign Affairs Assistant Secretaryfor Asian and Pacific Affairs; and the mayor of Tagaytay city, which is hopingto set up twin-city relations with a Vietnamese city.

TheVietnamese delegates visited the Embassy of Vietnam in the Philippines andAboitiz Equity Ventures, Inc., one of Philippine leading firms that is investingin Vietnam.

Onthe occasion, the PVFA thanked Vietnamese fishermen for saving 22 Filipino fishermenon June 9.

Tam,who is former Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, informedhis host that the VPFA will hold its second congress in 2020 and invite thePVFA officials to visit Vietnam.

Thetwo friendship associations said room for cooperation remains huge, and agreedto promote the bilateral ties and multifaceted cooperation.

Theywill also work to connect businesses of the two nations to bolster economicrelations, trade, investment, culture, education-training and offshore fisheriescooperation.-VNA
