A delegation of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) arrived in Hanoi on April 27, ending their four-day visit to the overseas Vietnamese community living in Australia.
The delegation, led by Vu Trong Kim, Vice Chairman and Secretary General of the VFF Central Committee, visited the Vietnamese Consulate General in Sydney and overseas Vietnamese people living in the suburbs of Paramatta and Cabramatta.
At the meeting, Kim said the contributions of overseas Vietnamese in Australia to their homeland are highly valued. They are, he added, also recognised for their great sense of solidarity and mutual support.
There are some 300,000 Vietnamese people living in Australia . So far, the Vietnamese community has gained a firm foothold in the local society while actively investing back into Vietnam and colleting significant donations for their fellow countrymen hit by natural disasters.
Earlier on April 25, the delegation visited the Vietnamese Embassy in Canberra .
At the meeting, Vietnamese Ambassador to Australia Hoang Vinh Thanh presented a certificate of merit to the Overseas Vietnamese Association in Australia and an insignia to its chairman Tran Ba Phuc, who is also member of the VFF Central Committee.
Back on April 24, the delegation visited Footscray market – the main business place of overseas Vietnamese people in Melbourne city. They also met with representatives from among overseas Vietnamese entrepreneurs, intellectuals and students in the city.
From April 20-23, they went on a working visit to New Zealand./.
