Soc Trang (VNA) – Vice President and Secretary General of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thi Thu Ha on April 10 visited and congratulated Khmer people in the southern province of Soc Trang on their traditional New Year festival Chol Chnam Thmay.
Speaking at the event, Ha expressed her delight at the local development, with the rate of poor Khmer households brought down to about 4.5%.
She wished all Buddhist monks, nuns and Khmer people in the province a happy New Year and believed that they will uphold the tradition of patriotism and join hands with local authorities and residents to accomplish socio-economic tasks this year.
On the occasion, she presented 100 gifts to local Buddhist dignitaries and reputable persons in the Khmer community.
Khmer people now account for over 31% of the province’s population./.
Long An, Tay Ninh leaders visit Cambodian province for Chol Chnam Thmay festival
A Vietnamese delegation led by Secretary of Long An provincial Party Committee Nguyen Van Duoc and his counterpart in Tay Ninh province Nguyen Thanh Tam on April 1 visited Cambodia’s Svay Rieng province on the occasion of Chol Chnam Thmay festival.
