Hanoi (VNA) – The Hanoi Book Fair 2024 will take place from September 27-29 at the pedestrians’ space around Hoan Kiem Lake in the heart of the capital city, expecting more than 30 reputable publishing houses and distributors across the country and the embassies of several countries.

The event is part of the activities celebrating the 70th anniversary of the capital's Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 – 2024), and the 35th anniversary of UNESCO's designation of Hanoi as a "City for Peace".

The highlight of this year's event is a book exhibition with many on Hanoi, from history and culture to works written about the people and traditions of the capital.

Along with introducing many book titles in diverse genres and offering special promotion programmes, publishers and book companies will organise meaningful exchange programmes with readers.

Within the fair’s framework, a seminar will be held to introduce book series entitled “History of Vietnam in pictures”, together with a series of exchange events to make debut new poetry collections and books.

This year, the organising board will launch a book donation programme for Hanoi suburban schools which have been heavily affected by Typhoon Yagi.

Initiated in 2014, the annual event aims to promote reading culture, encourage reading habits, and stimulate community reading movements to build a learning society./.
