Gala night in France supports Vietnamese street children

The “SOS Enfants des Rues due Vietnam” organisation, held a charitable gala night in support for Vietnamese street children, in the France-Switzerland border town of Cossy, in France’s Ain province on April 17.

Attending the event were Dang Xuong Hung, Minister Counsellor of the Vietnamese Mission to the United Nations (UN), World Trade Organisation (WTO) and other international organisations in Geneva , together with some 200 French and Swiss guests and overseas Vietnamese.

Speaking at the gala night, Hung extended his deep thanks to Marlyse Michaud, the founder and President of the “SOS Enfants des Rues due Vietnam ” and her organisation for their valuable assistance for Vietnamese street children in particular and for the country in general.

Marlyse Michaud said her organisation has supported Vietnamese street children through educational and training and development projects. It has provided assistance for street children in Ho Chi Minh City for nine years and Thai ethnic children in northestern provinces since 2006.

At present, the organisation is implementing two projects in Vietnam , repairing primary and secondary schools in the northwestern province of Dien Bien ’s Na Son commune, with a total investment of 120,000 USD and building a kindergarten for some 100 H’mong children in Noong Chuong village, 80km northwest of Dien Bien Phu city.

She added that every March or April, her organisation holds charitable gala nights to raise money for its underway projects in Vietnam .

The “SOS Enfants des Rues due Vietnam” organisation was founded in Cessy, France, on September 19, 2001 and in Geneva, Switzerland, on February 19, 2002 with the aim to help Vietnamese street children by improving their living conditions as well as develop educational and vocational centres for them./.
