Gathering enhances Vietnam – China comprehensive cooperation

A gathering was held in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on September 22 to consolidate the friendship and partnership and promote mutual understanding and trust between the Vietnamese and Chinese Governments and peoples while boosting the comprehensive and effective cooperation between the two sides from the national to local levels.

Can Tho (VNA) – A gathering was held in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho on September 22 to consolidate the friendship and partnership and promote mutual understanding and trust between the Vietnamese and Chinese Governments and peoples while boosting the comprehensive and effective cooperation between the two sides from the national to local levels.

At the event, organised by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Unions (VUFO)’ Can Tho city chapter in collaboration with the Vietnam – China Friendship Association in the city, and the Chinese Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City, Vice Chairman of the city People’s Committee Nguyen Ngoc He laid a stress on the extensive development in all areas of the Vietnam – China ties, which, he said, has contributed to the traditional friendship between the two nations.

Local residents always see the friendship and solidarity with the Chinese an important factor in the international relations for the shared ideals and common goals of national safeguarding and development of the two peoples, he said, highlighting the VUFO’s Can Tho city chapter and the Vietnam – China Friendship Association in the locality always promote their bridging role to consolidate and maintain the traditional friendship, particularly the twining ties with Guangdong province’s Shantou city.

He expressed his hope that the Consulate General will continue bridging culture, trade, and investment activities between the two sides so that more Chinese firms will come to Can Tho to study cooperation opportunities, adding Can Tho commits to creating favourable conditions for Chinese enterprises to operate their business there.

Consul General of China Wei Huaxiang, for his part, pledged to connecting more Chinese corporations with the Vietnamese locality, highlighting several cooperation projects that have brought benefits to the community such as the waste-to-energy factory by Everbright Environment Group Limited – an outstanding project under the bilateral collaboration to develop the “Belt and Road” initiative.

Chinese investors have registered some 111.74 million USD in 16 projects in Can Tho city, most of which are in production, trade, and services./.
