German play to be performed in Hanoi

Hanoi (VNA) - An excerpt of Woyzeck, a play written by German doctor andpoet Georg Buchner (1813-37) will be performed by Vietnamese artists on May 12.

It is a story about poor people, loneliness and mental illness in Germansociety in the 18th century.

It was first performed in 1913 in Munich. Since then, it has been translatedinto numerous languages and reinterpreted many times. It is one of the mostinfluential German dramas.

Under the direction of Nguyen Si Tien and with translation by researcher Thai KimLan, Woyzeck will be presented in a public reading by actors of the YouthTheatre.

The show will take place at GoetheInstitute in Hanoi.-VNA
