Hanoi (VNA) – The German State of Hessen has paid heed to enforcing ties with Vietnam, particularly in education, said Professor Gambiz Ghawami, a local representative, during his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Hanoi on February 29.
He told his host about progress of the sides’ joint projects on research and infrastructure construction, such as the transfer of clean water technology serving the education sector in Vietnam.
Deputy Prime Minister Phuc lauded the productive relationship in education and described the Vietnam-German University project as a model for cooperation between Vietnam and foreign countries’ localities.
Vietnamese and Germans reached a consensus on developing the university into a leading research and training center in Vietnam, meeting international standards.
Vietnam seeks further support from Germany in education, economy, politics and technology, Phuc said, adding joint research to curb consequences of climate change should be a priority.
Germany has been one of the top trade partners of Vietnam in the EU for years, comprising nearly 20 percent of the country’s exports to the union.
Vietnamese and German leaders agreed that the two countries have favourable environment and conditions to boost trade-investment cooperation twice or three times in anticipation of the signing of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA).-VNA
