Germany funds climate change project in VN, Laos

The German Natural Resources and Environment Ministry and the German Development Bank (KfW) will provide 7 million USD to carry out a project on climate change in four provinces of Vietnam and Laos.
The German Natural Resources and Environment Ministry and the German Development Bank (KfW) will provide 7 million USD to carry out a project on climate change in four provinces of Vietnam and Laos.

The German Natural Resources and Environment Ministry contributed 6 million USD to the project.

The project will be implemented in the central provinces of Quang Nam and Thua Thien-Hue of Vietnam and Salavan and Sekong provinces of Laos.

On Aug. 20, a delegation of German experts led by KfW senior expert Alice Salburg visited Thua Thien-Hue province to work with the provincial authority.

Alice Salburg said that Thua Thien-Hue will receive about 2.5 million USD to carry out four components of the project in four years to raise the capacity of natural resources, reduce illegal transport of timber in border areas between Vietnam and Laos, assist forest recovery and plantation and ensure the reduction of carbon into the environment./.
