The Government of Germany presented donations worth about 88,000 USD to Vietnamese victims of typhoon Mirinae in a ceremony in Hanoi on January 7.
The goods included necessities such as blankets, mosquito nets and cooking utensils enough for 3,400 households suffering from the typhoon in the central province of Phu Yen.
Addressing the ceremony, Birgit Wendling, Head of Development Cooperation Section of the German Embassy in Vietnam, stressed the importance of the German government-funded programme to assist Vietnamese victims of typhoons Mirinae and Ketsana that occurred last year.
On behalf of the Vietnamese victims, Deputy President of the Vietnam Red Cross Doan Van Thai spoke highly of German aid and the close cooperation between German and Vietnam Red Cross.
