The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) on August 19 jointly organise a conference to review a project to promote Vietnam’s sustainable management of natural forest and marketing of important forest products.
Conducting in nine years from September 2005, the Germany-supported project has helped two Vietnamese state forestry enterprises reach all requirements of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) standard on sustainable forest management.
Thanks to the project’s support, the enterprises became the first attaining FSC Forest Management and Chain of Custody (CoC) certification on natural forest management, which is the most successful approach of the project.
As covering Yen Bai, Quang Binh, Kon Tum, Dak Lak and Ninh Thuan, the project also supported these localities with policy and institutional consultations, as well as organisational reform, economic development and capacity improvement.-VNA
