Berlin (VNA) – The World University Service (WUS) and authorities of Hessen state of Germany will provide scholarships worth 205,000 EUR (230,625 USD) to students of the Vietnamese-German University (VGU) who are affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
WUS President Dr. Kambiz Ghawami said the WUS has suggested the Hessen Ministry of Science and the Arts grant the scholarships to VGU students amid the pandemic spread.
In a thank-you letter to Minister Angela Dorn, Ghawami said the programme acknowledges achievements the university has recorded at the international level.
The VGU is a scientific bridge between Vietnam and Germany, and a lighthouse of the bilateral strategic partnership, he stressed.
It is the first public university in Vietnam formed under an agreement between the two governments.
Since its inception in the southern province of Binh Duong in 2008, the VGU has been regarded as a key project between the two governments as well as the most successful tertiary educational cooperation project of the German government and the Hessen authorities./.
