A get-together was held in Hanoi on May 9 to mark the 25th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Brazil (May 8-1989-2014).
The event was jointly organised by the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Vietnam-Brazil Friendship and Cooperation Association (VBFCA).
Addressing the function, VBFCA President Nguyen Van Lang and Assistant to the Foreign Minister Nguyen Ngoc Son noted with pleasure the development of the Vietnam-Brazil relationship, saying it has been fostered and consolidated by generations of the two countries’ leaders and people over the past more than two decades.
Lang took the occasion to thank the Brazilian Government and people for their support for Vietnam during the past struggle for national independence as well as the current national construction and development.
Two-way trade between Vietnam and Brazil reached 2.33 billion USD in 2013, up 42 percent against the previous year, and is expected to expand another 42 percent this year.-VNA
