Gold Star Order conferred to Alliance of Arts and Literature Associations

Hanoi (VNA) – The Gold Star Order,the highest decoration of Vietnam, was bestowed upon the Alliance of Arts andLiterature Associations of Vietnam at a ceremony marking the alliance’s 70thanniversary in Hanoi on July 25.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders,President Tran Dai Quang presented the order to the alliance in recognition ofthe enormous contributions to national development and security by writers andartists nationwide.

In his speech, General Secretary of theCommunist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong said the Party and State have alwaysencouraged and respected artistic creations by building specific mechanisms andpolicies to support literature, arts, and artists’ activities. 

They hope that writers and artists across thecountry will create many pieces of work which have high ideological andartistic value and that honestly, profoundly, and comprehensively reflect the stateof the reform, integration, and development of the country.

He noted that many new issues have emerged inthis reform and integration period, which requests artists to reformthemselves, remain steadfast, and approach new methods in their creation. Theyshould follow daily life; embrace different aspects like agriculture, industry,business, and security and defence; and visit remote, ethnic minorities as wellas some border and island areas to discover and reflect interesting issues andnew problems while taking a responsible part in social tasks, especially thefight against corruption and negative phenomena.

The Party leader also asked the Party committeesand authorities at all levels to improve the awareness of the importance ofliterature and arts in national development and protection. They also need toprovide the best possible conditions for literary and artistic activities byissuing favourable mechanisms and policies, providing financial support,opening creation camps and offering training to talents.

The national arts and literature conference inDoc Phat village of Yen Ky commune, Ha Hoa district (Phu Tho province) on July25-27, 1948, is considered the first congress of the revolutionary arts andliterature organisation of Vietnam. It gathered artists from all strata andethnic groups to call on them to join hands in performing revolutionary tasks.

The organisation has changed its name threetimes and officially took the name the “Alliance of Arts and LiteratureAssociations of Vietnam” in 1995. –VNA

Binh Thuan ramps up measures to combat IUU fishing

According to the Binh Thuan Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province has completed registration for all “three-no” fishing boats - vessels without registration, licences or monitoring systems - measuring six metres or more. About 2,710 such vessels have been registered, meeting 100% of the ministry’s requirements and 2,012 operational vessels have been fitted with VMS devices.

Book fair improves knowledge for young Vietnamese in Russia

Vietnam, US hold 169th repatriation ceremony for American MIA servicemen

At the ceremony, Vietnam handed over four boxes containing remains recovered during recent joint excavations in Hue city, and Quang Tri and Kon Tum provinces. Preliminary forensic analysis on April 15 suggested the remains may belong to US MIAs and they will be sent to Hawaii for further identification.
