Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam’s tunaexports to Greece increased 104 percent year-on-year to reach nearly 1.8 millionUSD by the end of July 2019, according to the Vietnam Association of SeafoodExporters and Producers (VASEP).
The association noted that while the country’stuna exports to the European Union (EU) declined, exports to Greece enjoyedimpressive growth.
The export value of canned processed tuna to theEU accounted for more than 94 percent of Vietnam’s total tuna exports to themarket.
Greek customers tend to favour Italian cannedtuna. However, since 2016, demand for such high-quality products has beendeclining due to price hikes.
Therefore, Greece has increased imports ofcanned tuna from Asian countries with Thailand, the Philippines, Vietnam andTurkey being the biggest suppliers./.
