Hanoi (VNA) - A stunning 30-second promotional video showcasing the world heritage site of Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba archipelago is now being broadcast across Asia on the CNN television network.
The video highlights the unique and breathtaking global values of Cat Ba Archipelago in Hai Phong city, alongside Ha Long Bay in neighbouring Quang Ninh province, bringing these iconic Vietnamese destinations to billions of viewers worldwide.
The promotional video is being aired three times daily on CNN's Asia channels, including Northeast Asia, Asia-Pacific, and South Asia regions. Programmes like “The Lead”, “First Move”, and “CNN Newsroom” feature the advertisement from November 5 to December 2, 2024.
This initiative stems from Hai Phong’s commitment to promoting its heritage. It aligns with the city’s Plan No. 166, issued on July 19, 2024 by the municipal People’s Committee, focusing on communicating the values of the Ha Long Bay - Cat Ba Archipelago heritage during 2024 and 2025.
Tran Thi Hoang Mai, Director of the Hai Phong Department of Culture and Sports, said that through international media efforts, Hai Phong aims to share vivid, realistic images of the world heritage site with global audiences, in an effort to generate widespread awareness and appreciation.
In addition to CNN, the city has leveraged domestic media outlets, including Vietnam Television (VTV1, VTV3), Hai Phong Radio and Television (THP), social media platforms, and the Heritage magazine. These efforts ensure a comprehensive approach to reaching both domestic and international audiences.
The campaign highlights Cat Ba’s nearly 400 islands, lush forests, and distinctive biodiversity which includes several endemic species listed in the Red Data Book. Visitors are drawn to its pristine white-sand beaches, unique vegetation, crystal-clear water, and scenic coastal and forest trails. These natural wonders make Cat Ba a dream destination for travellers worldwide.
Hai Phong’s Department of Culture and Sports plans to intensify promotional activities in 2025, targeting highly engaging platforms. These include Vietnam Television, in-flight broadcasts on both domestic and international flights of Vietnam Airlines, and LED screens at major international airports. Social media and digital platforms will also play a critical role.
International campaigns will continue, with further exposure on CNN during prime evening hours from Mondays to Sundays. Additional broadcasts on other global channels such as Discovery and TLC (Travel & Leisure Channel) are also hoped to stretch the reach.
Hai Phong aims to use both domestic and international media to spotlight its dynamic progress, cultural heritage alongside socio-economic development. This approach emphasises the city’s preservation of the heritage’s integrity while optimising heritage values for sustainable development, particularly in green tourism.
These efforts are also expected to boost investment attraction and foster comprehensive development partnerships between Hai Phong and other localities nationwide and globally.
