Ha Nam province facilitates operations of Korean firms

The northern province of Ha Nam has stepped up investment promotion in the Republic of Korea (RoK) and joined many Korean cultural activities in Vietnam, a local official has said.

Ha Nam (VNA) – The northern province of HaNam has stepped up investment promotion in the Republic of Korea (RoK) andjoined many Korean cultural activities in Vietnam, a local official has said.

Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee TruongQuoc Huy told Korean Ambassador to Vietnam Park Noh-wan at a working session in Ha Nam on March 19 that the provinceattaches importance to its friendship and effective cooperation with the RoKEmbassy as well as trade promotion organisations of the two countries.

Ha Nam has set up a Korean trade promotion centre, called Korea Desk. Meanwhile, Korean firmsin Ha Nam have established an association, aiming to support each other inproduction and business.

As of March 2021, HaNam is home to 148 Korean enterprises, making up 45 percent of FDI firms in thelocality, with total investment amounting to 1.6 billion USD, Huy said, addingthat such firms have employed 30,000 labourers.

The province highlyvalues the operation capacity of Korean businesses, and has drastically implementedsolutions to remove their difficulties in labour shortages, according to theofficial.

He proposed the KoreanEmbassy in Vietnam help to promote Ha Nam’s investment climate to Korean firms,organise Korean language traing courses, and train high-quality human resources forKorean enterprises.

Representatives fromKorean investment promotion organisations and businesses spoke highly of thelocal investment environment, especially commitments of the provincial People’sCommittee to investors.

They suggested Ha Namdeal with the labour shortages, especially high-quality workforce, and providehousing assistance for Korean experts.

Park saidthe embassy has cooperated with Vietnamese agencies and organisations toadvance the relationship betweenthe two countries to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

The embassy willcontinue to promote the image of Ha Nam as a friendly and model locality to Korean businesses and groups, hepledged. /.

Coffee exports likely to exceed 8 billion USD this year

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment reported that Vietnam sold 1.3 million tonnes of coffee overseas for 7.41 billion USD between January and October, up 61.8% year-on-year and marking the highest annual value increase to date. The average export price reached 5,653 USD per tonne, a surge of 42.5% from the same period last year. Several markets posted outstanding growth, particularly Mexico, where export value jumped by 34.7 times.

Another Korean airline opens direct route to Nha Trang

Aero K said that Nha Trang is its second destination in Vietnam after central Da Nang city. The airline has been steadily expanding routes to Japan, Taiwan (China), and Southeast Asian countries, increasing its international flights for the RoK’s central region.
