HaTinh (VNA) – More than 1,500 volunteers collected garbage along XuanThanh beach in central Ha Tinh province’s Nghi Xuan district on March 19 followingthe launching of a beach clean-up campaign.
Addressingthe event, Bui Xuan Thap, Director of the provincial Department of Culture,Sports and Tourism underlined the need to develop tourism in tandem withenvironmental protection.
Healso called on all organisations and individuals to protect the marineenvironment.
HaTinh has 137 kilometres of coastline, spanning from Nghi Xuan district to KyAnh town. It has numerous pristine beaches, including Thien Cam, Xuan Thanh,Xuan Hai, Thach Hai, and Ky Ninh.
Theprovince also lies in the “heritage trail in the central region”, animportant gate of the “East – West economic corridor” tourism space.
Thecampaign aims to promote the province’s sea tourism potentials after theenvironmental incident in 2016, which caused negative impacts on the livingconditions of local people and the local maritime ecosystem.-VNA
