The Ministry of Public Security has urged the central province of Ha Tinh to apply effective measures to maintain security in the locality, especially in key economic areas.
At a working session with the provincial leaders on June 11, Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General To Lam hailed the locality’s timely response to the recent incident.
He instructed Ha Tinh public security force to increase patrols in key areas and set up more watch points across the locality to ensure local security, especially in Vung Ang industrial park.
The deputy minister also required the police to coordinate with investors and contractors in the locality in working out and implementing joint plans on security maintenance.
According to Nguyen Thanh Binh, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, on May 14, as workers in Vung Ang industrial park held a rally against China’s illegal placement of its oil rig in Vietnam ’s waters, a number of bad elements incited the crowd, causing social disorder.
Right after getting the information, local authorities shown up timely to ensure safety for staff of the companies and their property, he said.
The provincial public security also investigated and seized dozens of rioters and found a large amount of property to return to the affect firms, Binh stated.
Currently, all 407 domestic enterprises and 40 foreign firms with a total of 19,000 employees in the park have resumed their normal operation, he added.-VNA
