An earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter scale shook the northern port city of Hai Phong at 10:18am on October 3, but no damage has been reported.

The epicentre was 12 km underground in Thuy Nguyen district at latitude 20.99 degrees north and longitude 106.81 degrees east.

Professor Nguyen Hong Phuong, Deputy Director of the Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Centre, said that the tremor was also felt in high-rise buildings in Hanoi and in parts of Hai Phong City and Quang Ninh and Bac Ninh provinces, he added./.
