Once operational, the Dinh Vu-Quang Binh Inland Container Depot will be able to handle 100,000 tonnes of goods and have yard capacity of 400,000-500,000 TEU per year (Source: baogiaothong.vn) Hanoi (VNA) – Deputy Transport Minister Nguyen Van Cong recently signed adecision on the opening of the Dinh Vu-Quang Binh Inland Container Depot (ICD)at the Dinh Vu Industrial Park in the northern port city of Hai Phong.
Covering some 26 hectares, the more than 400billion VND (17 million USD) project will be the first ICD in Hai Phong and oneof the biggest in the northern region.
Once operational, the three-phase projectwill be able to handle 100,000 tonnes of goods and have yard capacity of 400,000-500,000TEU per year.
The Transport Ministry has asked Quang BinhImport & Export JSC – the project’s investor - to use the depot only afterthe company completes necessary procedures, while ensuring safety, security andfirefighting and preventing pollution.
The Vietnam Maritime Administration(Vinamarine) has been assigned to inspect the depot’s operation.
ICDs are inlandcustoms clearance points used by importers and exporters. The combination of servicesthey provide allow exporters and importers to save time and money.
