During the period, Hanoi officials inspected more than 1,000 Partymembers and 278 Party organisations showing signs of corruption,according to a report of the municipal Steering Committee forAnti-Corruption.
Violations on 163 organisations weredetected, said the report. It added that 5,775 complaints were alsohandled, reclaiming billions of dong and a large amount of land.
Addressing the conference, Secretary of the municipal Party Committee,Pham Quang Nghi, highlighted the significance of the anti-corruptionfight, adding that the city always takes the work very seriously.
He hailed the anti-graft efforts of the whole city over the past year.However, he stated that even stronger measures should be rolled out,with closer inspections of all sensitive sectors, such as construction,land and human resources management.
According to DeputyHead of the Central Party Committee’s Commission for Internal Affairs,Pham Anh Tuan, Hanoi needs to make anti-corruption an urgent taskand introduce a more specific strategy for this vital work.
He warned that complicated corruption cases, which may also involveforeign individuals and organisations, are on the rise, threateningsecurity and political stability. The city must promptly settle suchcases, he urged.-VNA
