Thecapital city would not allow buildings to use the basements for otherpurposes while people were being forced to park their vehicles onpavements around the buildings, Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People'sCommittee Nguyen Quoc Hung said at a recent meeting with the districtauthority.

The city transport department and the traffic policewere asked to demarcate several parking lots on the pavements of BaTrieu, Phan Boi Chau and 19/12 streets, because these pavements weremore than 3.5m in width, he said.-VNA

No “blind spots” in crackdown on smuggling, counterfeit goods

In the Jan-April period, authorities nationwide uncovered and handled nearly 44,000 cases related to smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods, while initiating 1,464 criminal cases involving 2,277 suspects, according to the National Steering Committee for Combating Smuggling, Commercial Fraud and Counterfeit Goods (National Steering Committee 389).
