65 years have gone since Hanoi was liberated from the French. The capital city has changed in more ways than one. Let’s take a glance at the glorious victory through a series of photos below.
The Hanoi Book Festival 2019, themed “Hanoi – the city for peace”, opened at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel on October 2, as part of activities to mark the upcoming 65th anniversary of the capital’s Liberation Day (October 10).
The moments when Hanoi was liberated on October 10, 1954 are being revived through a programme entitled ‘Memory of Hanoi – 65 Years’, which started on October 5 in the capital’s Old Quarter.
Many activities including street carnival and Hanoi Dragon Dance Festival took place on October 6 around Sword Lake to celebrate the 65th anniversary of Hanoi Liberation day (October 10, 1954-2019).
On October 12, 1960, the Liberation News Agency was established in the battlefield of Duong Minh Chau (Tay Ninh) - the base of the National Liberation Front of Southern Vietnam.
