The capital city of Hanoi and Japan’s Fukuoka prefecture will forge coordination in a broad spectrum of areas, especially in environment.
It is part of an agreement reached between the municipal People’s Council and Fukuoka Prefectural Assembly Committee in Hanoi on April 25, at a meeting between the Hanoi council’s Chairwoman Ngo Thi Doan Thanh and her visiting counterpart Matuso Tosho.
Fukuoka is among the leading localities in Japan in dealing with environmental pollution, Chairman Tosho confirmed, adding that most of the world’s modern waste treatment companies are based there. Therefore, he hopes Fukuoka and Hanoi can work closely together to address the current pollution in Hanoi.
He also expressed hope for welcoming a delegation of the Hanoi People’s Council to Japan soon so as to raise mutual understanding.
Chairwoman Thanh, meanwhile, vowed to offer support to Japanese investors in Hanoi, especially those operating in infrastructure, cultural exchange and tourism.
A total of 520 Japanese businesses have invested 4.6 billion USD in projects in the Vietnamese capital. Their projects have generated jobs for 135,000 Vietnamese workers, she said.
