The Hanoi municipal chapter of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU) honoured 10 outstanding young people for their contributions during 2012-2017 at its 15th Congress from October 18-20.

Hanoi (VNA) – The Hanoi municipal chapter of theHo Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (HCMCYU) honoured 10 outstanding young peoplefor their contributions during 2012-2017 at its 15th Congress heldin the capital city from October 18-20.

They include Asso. Prof Tran Xuan Bach, wushu martial artistDuong Thuy Vi, head of the club “5,000 VND Rice” Bui Quang Long, “inventor offarmers” Ta Dinh Huy, Meritorious Artist Nguyen Xuan Bac, businessman Le VinhSon, Sergeant Major Truong Duy Tung from the Hanoi Public Security Department’sDepartment of Fire Prevention and Fighting, deputy head of the Office of theYouth Association for Voluntary Blood Donation Recruitment Le Thanh Nam,captain Nguyen Ngoc Son from the Hanoi Public Security Department’s CriminalPolice Office, and Lieutenant Nguyen Anh Tuan from the Hanoi Capital HighCommand.

As the youngest associate professor in Vietnam, Bach is nowa lecturer in health economics at the Hanoi University of Medicine’s Institutefor Preventive Medicine and Public Health. He won the first prize of the DangVan Ngu Award in 2013, the second prize in 2015 and the third prize in 2016, anaward on international studies on clinical and preventive medicine from theCentre for AIDS Studies of the US’s Johns Hopkins University.

He also offered instructions to over 30 students who laterwon 11 scientific research awards at the national and university level,authored more than 100 articles, including 60 ones published on prestigiousinternational science magazines, and issued three books, two of them arewritten in English.

Wushu martial artist Vi grabbed the first gold for theVietnamese sports team at the SEA Games 2013, the only gold at the ASIAD 2014in the Republic of Korea, and a number of gold medals.

Meanwhile, Long founded the club “5,000 VND Rice” in August2012, offering more than 30,000 food portions, thousands of water and freshmilk bottles to poor children, workers and students.

Though only graduating from a high school, Huy successfullymade a multi-functional farming machine and created jobs for 15 young people inthe commune. He has so far produced over 1,000 machines with 15 functions as orderedby farmers nationwide.

In the fire at CT4A and CT4B apartment blocks in Xa La urbanarea in Ha Dong district, Tung led 50 people stuck at CT4B block to the terraceand took them to the ground safely. With such brave acts, he received thegovernment’s certificate of merit. Last year, he was honoured with the title “Outstandingyoung people follow Uncle Ho’s teachings”.-VNA

Son La to allocate 56 billion VND to wipe out run-down houses

As of March 16, the province already assisted 2,306 out of the total 2,887 households in replacing temporary and dilapidated houses. The remainders will receive financial aid to build new houses or repair their old homes in the coming time.

Vietnam Intellectual Association in Belgium, Luxembourg launched

Permanent Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Hoa Binh highlighted the vital role of the Vietnamese intellectual diaspora in national development.
