The title “outstanding citizen of Hanoi ” was awarded to two Russian nationals on November 10 in Russia in recognition of their contributions to the city’s construction and development as well as bilateral relations.
The honoured Russian citizens include former President of the Russia-Vietnam Friendship Association (RVFA) Evghni Glazunov and the Head of the Administrative Division of Serpukhov, Moscow province, Aleksander Shestun.
Addressing the ceremony held at the Vietnamese embassy, Deputy Secretary of Hanoi ’s Party Committee Tuong Phi Chien highlighted the contributions the individuals made to cementing cooperation and boosting ties between the two cities and countries.
Glazunov and Shestun thanked the Vietnamese State and Government for their kind sentiments and said they were honoured to receive such a title.
On October 7 this year, the Chairman of the Hanoi ’s People’s Committee agreed to grant the title to 12 outstanding international individuals, including three Russians citizens.
Vladimir Buianov, Chairman of the Russia- Vietnam Friendship Association, was awarded the title during his visit to Vietnam last month on the occasion of Hanoi’s 15 th anniversary as a City of Peace.-VNA
