Hanoi launches website on safe farm produce

Hanoi (VNA) – Consumers in Hanoi will find it easier to access informationpertaining to the origin and quality of agricultural products as an exclusivewebsite was launched on August 27 at http://nongsanantoan.gov.vn.

Nguyen Thi MaiAnh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Investment, Trade, and Tourism PromotionCentre, said the website is expected to help producers and businesses promotetheir products both at home and abroad.

It has beenseen as a useful tool that connects producers with distributors and consumersvia e-commerce in order to develop production and distribution value chains inthe locality, she said.

According tothe official, the website aims to build a database on safe farm produce, addingthat 21 safe food stores in Hanoi have been licensed by the municipalDepartment of Industry and Trade, and all 600 convenient stores in the cityhave met food safety regulations.

Hanoi has so far established 80 chains of safe farm produce, said themunicipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Of the total, there are five collective brands,namely Ba Vi chicken, Soc Son chicken, Son Tay chicken, Van Dinh duck, and LienChau duck eggs. 

Farm-to-fork chains with animal origins haveattracted the participation of more than 3,000 family farms and 120 businessesand individuals operating in the sectors of animal feed, medicine,slaughtering, food processing, and distribution.

The department is examining 140 facilities tobuild a programme that helps trace product origins using QR codes.-VNA
