Hanoi, Minsk work to sign cooperation pact for 2019 – 2020

Hanoi (VNA) – Belarusian DeputyPrime Minister Andrei Dapkiunas asked Hanoi and Belarusian capital Minsk tostep up discussions for their cooperation agreement for 2019 – 2020.

He made the request at a meeting with ViceChairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen The Hung on December 4 as partof his visit to Vietnam.

The official stated Belarus considerscooperation with Vietnam a priority of its diplomacy in Asia, noting thatbilateral ties in many fields are still short of their potential.

He praised Hanoi authorities’ support forBelarusian firms operating in the city. He hoped collaboration between Vietnamand his country as well as between Hanoi and Minsk would improve in the future.

Agreeing with his guest, Hung highlightedpotential for bilateral engagements between the two capitals and said Hanoiwill soon send a delegation to Minsk to discuss the cooperation pact. Theagreement is expected to be signed in May or June next year, he added.

The official took the occasion to praise theperformance of 32 made-in-Belarus buses in Hanoi, asking the Belarusian side tocontinue its involvement in the development of the local bus system and publictransport management.

Hanoi put the 32 buses produced by theBelarusian Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ) into use last year. The vehicles haveproved better quality compared to others operated in the city.-VNA

In his speech, General Secretary and President Lam stressed that Mulino's official visit holds special significance for bilateral ties. Both sides agreed that there is ample room for cooperation, particularly in trade, investment and services. They pledged to step up joint work in the economic, trade, investment, agriculture, port logistics, finance, banking, tourism and transport sectors, as well as other areas of mutual strength. They also plan to continue negotiating agreements on investment protection, aviation and other areas to create a more favourable framework for expanding cooperation.

Vietnam, Panama exchange cooperation documents witnessed by top leaders

The documents include an agreement on maritime transport cooperation between the Governments of Vietnam and Panama, an agreement on cooperation in combating transnational crime, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on agricultural cooperation, and an MoU on tourism cooperation between the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism and the Panama Tourism Authority.
