Hanoi municipal People’s Committee has decided to allocate an additional nearly 16 billion VND (760,000 USD) for the prevention of diseases on poultry and farm animals, particularly avian influenza and foot and mouth disease.

The money will be used to purchase disinfectants, vaccines and labour safety equipment as well as to pay for tests, among others.

The municipal Department of Agriculture and Rural Development is the coordinator for all the work in this field, while the veterinary section is charged with guiding and supervising the spending of the money and the progress of epidemic prevention work.

Hanoi is also conducting educational campaigns to raise public awareness about epidemic prevention.

Besides, the city has tightened control of poultry trade amid complicated developments in avian influenza across the country.-VNA
