Households in inner Hanoi districts will face water shortages as the prolonged hot season approaches, an official has said.
Water plants are forecast to supply 900,000-910,000 cubic metres per day, falling 40,000-60,000 cubic metres short, Deputy Director of the Construction Department’s Water Drainage Management Board Le Hong Quan told a meeting in Hanoi on May 5.
The department will ask water plants to be fully operational, reach their maximum capacity and upgrade water drainage systems.
General Director of Hanoi Clean Water Company Nguyen Bao Vinh said his company built the 10,000-cubic-metre Dong My water pumping station and restored the Bac Thanh Long-Van Tri facility with a designed capacity of 50,000 cubic metres per day.
He added that construction on another water plant on the Red River is expected to start this year and conclude in 2019.-VNA
