Hanoi (VNA) –
The Hanoi People’s Committee has agreed with a proposal of the municipal Departments of Education and Training, Health, and Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs to continue keeping schools close in response to the spread of the COVID-19.

Speaking in conclusion of a meeting of the municipal steering committee for COVID-19 prevention and fight on March 13, Chairman of the People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung said students in the capital city’s kindergartens, elementary and junior high schools, vocational and regular education centres, and foreign language, computer training centres as well as short-term training facilities will not return to class until after March 29.

Meanwhile, senior high school students will stay closed until the end of March 22, and from now until then, the municipal authorities will meet to decide the time to let those students go to school.

Chung said the educational institutions need to maintain disinfection work, and coordinate with families to monitor students’ health during the school closure, while utilizing suitable forms to help students study at home.  

Earlier, Hanoi decided to televise lessons of key subjects for ninth and 12th graders, helping them keep up with coursework.

According to Deputy Director of the Hanoi Health Department, the city has recorded five cases of COVID-19 so far, who are being treated at the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

A total of 3,542 having contact with COVID-19 patients are under monitoring at both hospitals and in the community./.
